This project, partially funded by the Welsh Government’s social housing grant scheme (SHG), will proudly utilise steel made in Wales across the 2.02-hectare site. The development will deliver high-quality, 100% social rent homes, designed with guidance from Swansea University’s SPECIFIC knowledge centre to ensure exceptional energy performance and minimal environmental impact.
Each home will feature Catnic’s SolarSeam, a cutting-edge roofing system that combines elegant design with advanced solar technology. The integrated bonded solar panels provide a seamless look while generating clean, renewable energy. The SolarSeam system offers numerous benefits, including reduced energy costs for residents, a lower carbon footprint, and enhanced property value, all while contributing to a sustainable future.

Situated next to Parc y Scarlets, this site is one of the first to enter the development stage since the formation of Beacon Cymru in January 2025, following the merger of Coastal Housing Group and RHA Wales. The land, acquired from Tata Steel UK, will feature structures built with a galvanized steel frame.

Monmouthshire-based Edenstone Homes will undertake the construction on behalf of Beacon Cymru, emphasising renewable energy technologies and biodiversity practices that exceed industry standards. This reflects the shared commitment to sustainability among all project partners.
Construction is set to commence shortly and is expected to be completed in approximately two years, with homes available for occupation by Spring 2027.
"We are proud to contribute to this significant development with our Catnic SolarSeam system. This project underscores our commitment to sustainable and innovative construction solutions. We look forward to seeing these homes provide comfort and energy efficiency to the residents of Llwynhendy."
