Catnic’s flagship education programme, Build It Better, has achieved record growth in 2026,  supporting more colleges, more learners and delivering a greater industry impact than ever before.

Launched in 2025 with 12 participating colleges and £50,000 worth of donated Catnic product, the initiative was created to give construction students access to real materials, handson learning and the confidence to step into the industry with practical experience.

Just one year later, Build It Better has expanded to over 30 colleges across the UK, with Catnic donating more than £200,000 of product to support bricklaying, carpentry and multitrade programmes.

This rapid growth reflects both the demand from further education providers and Catnic’s longterm commitment to strengthening the construction skills pipeline.

A commitment to the next generation

Speaking about the success of the programme

“Build It Better has grown far beyond what we imagined in its first year. The response from colleges has been incredible, and the impact on learners is clear, real materials, real practice and real confidence. Supporting the next generation of tradespeople is essential for the future of our industry, and we’re proud to play our part.”

Charmaine Dean
Marketing Manager

Dean added that the expansion is only the beginning, with Catnic planning to scale the initiative further in 2027 to reach even more colleges and training providers.

Driving industry skills and opportunity

Build It Better is designed to remove barriers for colleges by providing free access to Catnic products, including steel lintels, plasterbead, and builders’ metalwork, ensuring students can train with the same materials used on live construction sites.

The initiative also strengthens links between education and industry, helping learners understand product performance, installation best practice and the standards expected in modern construction.
