Angle Bead FAQs
An angle bead is a type of plaster bead that’s used to reinforce the application of plaster or render in the corners of a wall. Angle beads are available in a variety of different profiles and sizes, as well as material options including PVCu and galvanised or stainless steel.
Plastering angle beads can be used in both exterior and interior applications. Depending on the use, the material and profile may alter. Galvanised angle beads, for example, are generally not recommended for outdoor use.
Angle beads should be accurately measured and trimmed with tin snips before installation. Once positioned and level, secure them using nails / staples or embed them in wet plaster. Ensure the bead is firmly fixed with no movement and level before applying plaster or render.
The right angle bead material depends on your application. Stainless steel is best for external use and high-corrosion environments, while galvanised steel suits dry, internal settings. For added corrosion resistance in damp areas, PVCu angle beads are a reliable choice, and an economical alternative to stainless steel.
