Catnic is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Nelson Wallball Association, a grassroots sports initiative founded by Rob Dicks and his lifelong friends. Rob and the team, a passionate advocates for community sport and valued members of the local area, having played a central role in growing the game of wallball in Wales.
Rob became Chairman when the group formally established a committee, which includes Michelle Hooper (Secretary) and Leigh Tiley (Treasurer). Paul and Jade later joined as dedicated youth coaches. Together, their commitment to the sport has brought international attention to the village of Nelson and inspired a new generation of players across the region.
Wallball, a fast-paced, inclusive sport played by hitting a ball against a wall using your hands, is gaining momentum across Europe. Thanks to the team’s tireless efforts, Nelson recently hosted the European Wallball Tournament, welcoming athletes from across the continent to compete, connect, and celebrate the spirit of the game.
“Rob and the teams passion for Wallball and their commitment to the local community was brought to my attention by his brother-in-law Ian, who works in our Fabrication department. We’re honoured to support the Nelson Wallball Association and help grow a sport that champions accessibility, teamwork, and wellbeing.”
As part of our sponsorship, Catnic is providing funding to help the Association invest in new equipment such as safety glasses, balls, and shirts , as well as support with team travel costs. This £200 donation reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting grassroots initiatives and celebrating the achievements of our surrounding community.

With Catnic’s support, we’re able to grow the game, improve access, and give young people in our community a chance to be part of something exciting and inclusive. We where extremely grateful for Catnic giving us a chance to prove to the rugby and football orientated village that Wallball is an additional option to get actively fit for free, this sponsorship springboarded the local kids to take gold and silver in the junior men’s and womens Euro 1 Wall Tour in London back in early 2023, while as a team taking a total of 5 gold medals to date and a load of silvers - it gives us the belief to make our dreams come true!”
