Last week, Catnic employees came together for a meaningful community project, planting 50 blossom trees at Parc Cwm Darran in Caerphilly. With a mix of plum, apple, and pear trees, the initiative has enhanced the local environment while leaving behind a legacy of growth and sustainability for residents and visitors alike.
A team of eight volunteers from across the business participated, representing marketing, sales, finance, and production, plus even the Managing Director joined in. The day exemplified teamwork, passion, and dedication, showing the incredible outcomes achievable when departments unite for a common cause.
The ideal weather and picturesque location added a special touch, with Parc Cwm Darran’s rich coal mining history and scattered artefacts sparking curiosity and engaging conversations among the team. While the initial task of planting 50 trees seemed manageable, the stony ground presented unexpected challenges. However, the group’s determination and collaborative spirit prevailed, allowing them to overcome obstacles and meet their goal.
Breaks were filled with lively chats, fostering connections and camaraderie between colleagues from different departments. Volunteers worked across groups to support one another, underscoring the strong team spirit and motivation that defined the day. Reflecting on the experience, Emily Bunny, Customer Service Representative, shared:
"This was a truly memorable experience for me. I really enjoyed collaborating with colleagues from across the business, and it inspired me to volunteer more in my local community. The entire experience was so rewarding, and I’d encourage more people to get involved."

Catnic is immensely proud of the team’s efforts and is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the natural beauty and community spirit of Parc Cwm Darran. The initiative not only created a positive environmental impact but also strengthened bonds within the company and inspired greater commitment to community volunteering. As Managing Director David Hanson said:
"Our team’s commitment to giving back is truly inspiring. Planting 50 blossom trees at Parc Cwm Darran was a fantastic way to support our community and connect across departments. It’s a rewarding reminder of the difference we can make when we work together. We’d like to thank the team at Parc Cwm Darran and Caerphilly County Borough Council for giving us this opportunity "

Parc Cwm Darran holds a special place in our community, and it was incredible to see volunteers from Catnic coming together to work with Caerphilly Countryside Service to enhance its natural beauty and biodiversity. Their dedication and teamwork truly reflect the spirit of giving back, creating a lasting impact for future generations to enjoy and also having a really enjoyable time in the Country Park.
This volunteering initiative is a key part of Catnic’s sustainability commitment, reflecting our promise to protect biodiversity within our local communities. By engaging with local volunteer groups and organising hands-on projects like this, we aim to contribute to the preservation and enhancement of natural habitats. Offering our teams the opportunity to get involved in meaningful activities not only strengthens our connection to the community but also helps us make a tangible difference. Schemes like these are an excellent way to combine teamwork and environmental impact, ensuring that we leave a lasting positive legacy for future generations.
Together, the Catnic team is building a brighter, greener future—one tree at a time.
