Junior Structural Technician
Salary: £26,000–£27,000 per annum Location: UK (Site-based with cross‑functional team interaction)
About the Role
Catnic is growing its Technical Services capability and we are looking for an enthusiastic, technically minded Junior Structural Technician to join our expanding team. This is a temp‑to‑perm opportunity (9–12 months) designed for someone early in their engineering career who wants to progress into a fully competent Technical Services Engineer through a structured CPD development programme.
As a Junior Structural Technician, you will support the delivery of technical advice, drawing interpretation, product and application guidance, and customer technical support across the business. This role is ideal for someone with an engineering qualification and exposure to structural engineering, civil engineering, construction, or a related technical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Support — Provide technical assistance to internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders.
- Drawing Interpretation — Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction details.
- Technical Calculations — Assist with calculations and product/application queries.
- CAD & Documentation — Support the preparation and amendment of CAD drawings and technical documentation.
- Cross‑Functional Liaison — Work with sales, manufacturing, design, and project teams to support customer requirements.
- Issue Resolution — Help resolve technical issues and respond to enquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Record Keeping — Maintain accurate technical records and documentation.
- Product Knowledge — Build strong technical product knowledge through structured training.
- Continuous Improvement — Contribute to improvements within the Technical Services function.
- CPD Completion — Complete all development objectives within the 12‑month CPD programme.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- HNC/HND in Engineering, Construction, Civil or Structural Engineering (or relevant experience).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering or construction drawings.
- Exposure to structural, civil, construction, or manufacturing technical environments.
- CAD experience (AutoCAD or similar).
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office).
- A proactive, willing‑to‑learn attitude.
