When Irthing Developments required a lightweight, modern roofing alternative to zinc for an extensive timber barn renovation, Catnic's Urban Roofing & Cladding System was specified. Having been engaged on the project from the very beginning, Catnic also provided a FREE scheduling service and technical support to ensure the project was delivered on time, on budget and with successful results.

Situated in the village of Kirklinton in Carlisle, Cumbria the project involved the re-development of a small timber barn into a contemporary single storey residential property. The six-month conversion was completed in September 2017 and offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

George Stephen, Owner of Irthing Developments and designer on the project was looking for a lightweight alternative to zinc that would be quicker to install, and was introduced to the Catnic Urban system by Catnic’s parent company Tata Steel.

“The Catnic Urban panels were simple to fit together and being so lightweight, they were very easy to work with and only took my team two weeks to install. We were delighted with the level of service as well. Catnic provided guidance from the start and came to site frequently to ensure technical advice was on hand.”

Catnic provided a complete scheduling service including scheduling estimates – factoring in ancillaries, soffits and tools required. The experienced team also assisted George Stephen with technical support and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) details that were made available online to provide instant access to the project’s Catnic Urban drawings.

Catnic’s free scheduling service is available for all types of projects. The user simply has to upload their project drawings to receive a quote, detailed product literature or receive a call back.

“From a design perspective the Catnic Urban roof in Anthracite Grey offers a modern look against the cedar cladding of the building and to ensure a sense of continuity we also matched the colour of the roof with the frames of the windows. The client is also looking at adding a garage to the land and we, of course, would be happy to use the Catnic Urban roof for this part of the project as well.”
