We currently have an exciting opportunity to recruit an Production Operator at our UK site.

The Role

Our Catnic business is recognised as being one of the strongest brands in the construction industry and supplies builder’s merchants, housing developers and distributors throughout the UK and overseas with technically superior products. We specialise in the manufacture and supply of quality building materials, including its brand-leading steel lintels and an extensive range of building components.

We are recruiting for a Production Operative based within Manufacturing at our Catnic site in Caerphilly. Reporting directly to a Section Leader, the purpose of the role is to fully contribute to the achievement of team objectives through the flexible and safe deployment of task skills in a team working environment based on a principle of continuous improvement.

 Once trained, you will operate machinery / equipment in an efficient, safe and productive manner and to good standards of workmanship in order to deliver the required levels of customer service. You will recognise relevant product ranges to facilitate prompt and accurate material selection and processing.

Within the role, you will ensure that products produced are correct to drawing at all times, and recorded, labelled and stored according to CATNIC policy and guidelines. You will ensure that all work, including those undertaken on the Company's behalf by third party service providers, is conducted in manner that fully complies with CATNIC’s health and safety, quality, environmental and corporate policies.

What are we looking for?

Applicants will have the ability to demonstrate qualities of flexibility, an ability to adapt, initiative, drive and commitment. You will be able to work safely under pressure and to tight timescales. We expect candidates to have a good all round education with strong numeracy, literacy, IT skills, with strong mechanical aptitude and spatial intelligence. Previous experience setting up and operating any of the following machinery, Pressotechnik Tox machine CNC Hydraulic Press , Multi Spot Welder , Bronx or Cincinnati or similar Brake Press, Bronx steel Slitting Line would be an advantage. A background in a steel manufacturing environment together with current RTITB license to operate Side Loading Truck (SLT) and Front Loading Truck (FLT) would be useful. It is possible that the role may require you to work our night shift as a regular shift.
